Twitter by Subject

I’ve noticed that there are a few people doing Twitter accounts for different subject and it seems to work well.

Two good examples are http://edition.cnn.com/twitter/ and http://twitter.com/sydneytraffic from the RTA.

The RTA have done it well by using a different account for each region in Sydney for traffic, which means you avoid seeing information that is not relevant to you.

One of the hardest things about getting Twitter to work for you business is making the information relevant, and this is defiantly an easier way for achieving that.

And a side note, http://twitter.com/sydneytraffic is one of the best follows I have added in a long time, Awesome on the mobile!

Jetstar To Offer SMS Boarding Passes From November

http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2009/08/jetstar-to-offer-sms-boarding-passes-from-november/

Love this idea, show a SMS as your boarding pass. Simple, easy. A page from a mobile site that requires login would also be just as easy and probably more secure.

Mobile bigger than web?

I heard someone make the comment today that a mobile website might become bigger than the website on a PC. Would this actually happen?

Of course this depends on the site, but i think the answer is no, not really. Mobile will certainly grow and become much, much bigger than it is today, but it will never become the bigger placement in a web enviroment.

When you are buying a car for example, you might use m.tradingpost.com.au on the train, or on the loo, but when you want to sit down and seriously look, you’re not going to use your mobile?

It’s not that mobile is retrictive, it’s just as possible to do anything on a smartphone that can be done on a full PC, it’s just always going to be a small screen.
